My parrents have been married for 22 years. Both are intellectual, hardworking people. My father is quite docile, doesn't speak much, spends a lot of time by the computer, is stagnant person in general. Mother on the other hand is active, worksout, etc. But comes from a abusive family and always was somewhat controlling. I myself am 19 y. o. Currently doing mandatory millitary service. For the past few months my mom's been telling me how she's unhappy with the marrage and my fathers "lack of presence". She's also told him, how she doesn't like his passiveness and would like him to be more active to no avail.

They are going to break up. They're already basically living in separate rooms in the same apartment. I've talked about this only with mom because she had brought it up and told her that I won't pick sides, but haven't discussed the situation with dad. We never really talked much with him about "feelings", family issues or other kind of deep subjects like that.

I'm afraid that my dad might not take the divorce well and break mentally (god forbid, kill himself). I'm not sure how strong he is, he seems calm right now, he's always calm, keeps his feelings to himself until they burst out. To add up, today I was talking with my uncle (mothers brother), a pretty RP man if I dare say so and he asked me to talk my mother out of it, because he thinks that she's acting stupid, has it all and is throwing it all away.

I don't know when exactly they're going to break up officially, they haven't spoken about it openly. I'm asking here, because i'm at loss. Don't know if I should do something like uncle said, or stay by the sideline.
