I sincerely hope all of you have read Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

This is basically required reading for all men who hope to be successful at anything in life. I don't have a single business friend that does not have this book in his library and does not credit at least part of his success and knowledge to reading it.

I prefer hard copies but it's a lousy 99 cents on kindle, if that's too much, almost every local library has a copy and I'm sure it's also on plenty of torrents.

A less well known book by the same author which I actually prefer to TAGR is The Law of Success, which was actually written first. It's over 500 pages of basically everything there is to know about achieving success in life. These 500 pages have been turned into millions more creating the entire self help industry. If you read this one book you have basically read every single self help success book ever written since.

Beyond what these books teach, there is a bonus great lesson and that is the author himself, Napoleon Hill

Hill died penniless, renting a shitty room, trying to sell the typewriter he wrote his world famous book on for $50 just to eat.

At one point, he was earning $2500 per week during the 1920's, which today would be like earning $40,000 per week, but he fucked it all up by constantly swaying between using the knowledge and doing the exact opposite.

Many people can't wrap their heads around how a man with access to the worlds richest men and all the knowledge in the world could die broke and alone.

Many people can't wrap their heads around it, because they are the same person Napoleon Hill is, having access to all the worlds information at the fingertips but never putting it into practice.

Some put changing themselves briefly into practice and then run back to their old ways. You can apply it to anything, money, women, dieting, fitness.

If you are on reddit, you have the internet, and that means you have access to all the information in the world inside a magic box.

Think of what people would have given just 20 years ago to buy this box you have in front of you.

It's fascinating to me that people do not understand this. You could sell this magic box for a trillion dollars if you could transport it working as it does now to 1990 and showed it to the world's richest men.

There was an old saying that was very true for most of human history "The most successful men have the largest libraries" aka knowledge is the ultimate power.

If you walked into any great man's home in decades and centuries past you would almost certainly find a room filled with hundreds of books.

Today you all have that great man's library times a billion.

The mistake most people make is assuming they lack the will power, the motivation to truly better themselves. At best they take joy in reading about bettering themselves and feel the feelings of what it must be like to be that ultimate version of themselves, but never pull the trigger.

There is no one that has more willpower than you, the difference is they just take the temporary pain where you seek the comfort.

By most accounts I live an incredibly enjoyable life but it is still everything in me to get out of bed a lot of mornings, I would much prefer to stay in my nice warm bed for a few more hours than get up and walk down to my exercise room to get a workout in and start going over some emails and my schedule for that day.

It's no harder for you to get out of bed than anyone else, we all seek comfort, someone else just pushed themselves kicking and screaming out of the covers this morning because they want to wake up in their dream home, with their dream car, with their dream body and their dream career, and their dream friends and their dream women. The other guy just chooses to go back to sleep and hopefully dream about all those things but never get them.
