This is an experiment where some dude will get beat up on campus.

If this kind of stuff happened to me in real life, scratch that, something quite similar actually happened to me and it wasn't that good. It was back in college at night when I saw from a distance a dude standing with a girl screaming, standing, too. I stopped to look at the situation. I was thinking rape. Then the dude kicked the back of the knee of the girl, so I proceeded to walk to their direction. Then girl scratched the guy's face. She kept pounding and pounding the dude. The dude wasn't fighting back, so my initial thought that the girl was at a disadvantage looks less plausible, but I still couldn't really figure out what's going on, so I just kept walking past them still looking at them, occasionally looking at my front so I won't stumble on anything. I was thinking it might be a good chance to get some action. Then they just walked together past me like lovers. It wasn't as macho as I wanted it to be, but my decision to assess the situation before getting into it looks the right thing to do by the way things ended. Still, that meant I still don't know what I'd actually do with the real deal. After all, a simulation means zero until you get to dive into the field.

To me, this isn't just about helping people, it's about letting out your aggressive instincts with full conviction.

On the other hand, there is a commenter there who said this:

I like this experiment, but at the same time, there's a reason why some people don't stop by and help. It is good to be nice and help a innocent person out, but in today's society, anything could happen. What if it is a trick just and its just two guys and when you try to help them they shoot you or kidnap you. What if when you try to help him the bully pulls out a gun and shoots you. You just never know in today's world.

This is a great heads up and has strategic significance when helping people getting beaten up inappropriately or too much (Who knows? The who's getting bullied might be a criminal caught in the act). But having that as a reason not to help is just a coward's excuse. After all, risks and hardships are what separates men from cowards. With this possibility in mind, my plan now would be before helping, assess the situation, then either grab the attacker or the target from behind, never in between to slightly lessen the risk of getting caught in the crossfire, or as the commenter said, of getting ganged up by both dudes if it was a trap. I'm thinking about pulling and dragging the attacker by his feet from the back and then kicking him hard on the leg or the back. Or another would be to pull the victim and make him escape, but that's less braver and even risky on your part because the attacker will either just keep on pounding the victim, or if he chose to strike at you, you'd have less time to react because your hands are full. Anyway, I know some guys here at TRP are real men, so what's a man to do? Let's develop a strategy so our OODA Loop (here and here) is better than the attacker.
