This privilege stuff is bullshit, and an intellectual tarpit. Don't waste time or energy on it.

Marxism == Class Struggle

Privilege is a tool to practice Class Struggle.

Don't use the tool.

That's just the thing - when you consider the big picture, there really is no class struggle, because all the classes are essentially equal in privilege. Marxism relies on exacerbating the differences between people, in a negative mindset of hatred for the successful and lust for "equality."

Marxism invented Sexism and Racism.

Their goal is to make tensions higher... fan the flames of hatred.

You assume Marxism is based in reality. It isn't.

Class struggle = how Marxists justify seizing power.

It has nothing to do with what reality is.

So are we privileged? If you're reading this, I can assure you that you are.

Privilege is a leftist concept designed to shame you into paying for parasites. Reject it.

Privilege is a word with a very valid meaning. Like misogyny, it's used to take things out of context and create false impressions, however in the post I attempt to re-contextualize it for people who perhaps have not yet recognized the extent to which it is manipulated.

Let's talk about privilege and prostionality for a bit. These are usually defined as followed. Privilege is an implicit set of assumptions that everyone's lived experiences are similar to one's own. It is most frequently used as a counter to a normative claim that is exclusionary to differences. Positionality is how one views the world through their lived existence without the compartmentalization of different identities.

On a quantitative level privilege losing some of its impact when it defines every expect of an identity as potentially privileged. A white male is privileged in western culture, but an Asian male is privileged in eastern culture. When this is applied broadly it quickly becomes apparent that everyone is just privileged based on the positionality of that viewer. The initial and counter-factual both exist. On a qualitative level the problem is not fixed. Simply adding additional identities, e.g. gay, Jew, to the list does not fix the problem. The positionality of privilege is not fixed but made slightly more complicated.

Many people claim someone is privileged because they believe someone is benefiting right now in the contexts of that person doing nothing. The individual does not even need to be benefiting right now to be privileged. A white man that is simply standing in one spot still have white and male privilege. Thus privilege cannot exist just in the moment but most be extended. But before it was pointed out that in the long term everyone is only privileged in context. If you have access to a potential privilege then you also have potential to receive the opposite.

This in practice creates a weird situation. A male is privileged because the majority of the intellectual work in a given field was done by men before him. Even though that man did nothing to access privilege and both men and women benefited from past males, only the males are privileged. This plays out in the minds of some people to mean that the contemporary man has already contributed too much to a discourse. They then feel the need to silence that contemporary man to allow women to contribute and will only feel respected when both men and women have contributed equally. Thus the entire history of mankind is used as a justification to impose unfair rules on current men. Thus a male has a set of assumptions imposed on them that creates a system where they are treated as inferior regardless of what they as an individual has done. The thing that privilege was meant to challenge.

Some great points here. In addition to considering spacial (Western/Eastern) and temporal (history of mankind) positionality, it's also worth considering emotional positionality. As someone perceives a "privilege advantage" in another, they will begin to feel resentment, and anger. However, the person who is seen as "more privileged" has a different perspective, and does not understand the angered person's reasoning. Hence, the bitter person becomes even more incensed at the perceived indifference exhibited by the person they resent.

Take, for example, an ever relevant example from feminism. Women want equal pay, which is understandable. So they get a job working with some guys, and when raises come along a male coworker earns a larger bonus. The woman sees this as male privilege, while the male realizes that he earned a larger bonus because he accomplished work faster. Her emotional positionality (being angered at not receiving an equal bonus) conflicts with his (calm acceptance of the benefits of hard work) and she equates this to his male privilege and chauvinism.

Is it possible to boil down this many factors into rational and reasonable evaluation? In a working environment, no. Everyone is coming at an issue from different perspectives, precluding them from viewing one objective truism.

Conclusion:

Everyone starts off at a different place. Regardless, fuck bitches and get money.
