Making small talk with strangers is a common piece of advice around here, but I have noticed that it is extremely uncommon for people to do so in the street. If anything, the only people that have started a conversation with me out of the blue are 45+yo women on the bus. Talking to strangers seems somewhat needy to me because it signals that you are desperate for human contact. Am I getting something wrong?
