Hi,

So, this morning, I was eating breakfast at my local IHOP. Being morning, IHOP was very busy (as it always is that time to day), when a very lovely girl walked up to take my order. Latina, definitely over 18 and definitely under 25, and drop dead gorgeous.

I have, really, only two restrictions on when I'll chat women up who I find attractive (if you don't try, you won't ever win), those restrictions are I don't hit on co-workers (don't shit where you eat) and the other one is that I don't hit on women who are at work and who are obviously very busy. Much as I like talking to girls, I don't want to get in the way of their making a living (or, more accurately, I want them to pay attention to me. Girls who are thinking about work generally don't pay attention). If work is slow, and I know I have her attention, I'll chat.

So, anyway, I gave my order to this cute latina, and I couldn't help thinking, as I did, "what the hell is this girl doing working at IHOP?" She's at her peak SMV (18-25), she's hot as hell, and she lives in the freaking silicon valley. For goodness sakes, does it have to be spelled out for her?

I don't know if she's a college student, or has any college. Some of the workers at IHOP are college students, some are career servers. Latino families tend to have a bias against higher ed. My roommate in college came from a latin family where his parents owned a small business, and had 14 kids (I know). My roommate was the only one of his siblings who went to, and finished, college. He worked for Coca-Cola for ten years before getting tired of getting passed over for promotion and deciding to go to college. In his family, he had as many siblings who were dead (one) and twice as many siblings who were in jail (two) as there were who had college degrees (one, him). He told me his situation was fairly typical of families from his walk of life. I never fact-checked those statements, but I trust his word on it.

Anyway, since I've read RP and learned some things about sexual strategy, I have to ask this girl what she's thinking. She lives in the most advantageous place on earth to be an attractive woman. The Bay Area is a feminist paradise for two reasons, 1) high levels of higher education (indoctrination) at elite, world-class universities, and 2) there are 120 men for every 100 women, which means pussy is scarce, and when pussy is scarce, abundance mentality is harder and betas are far more willing to make a deal to snatch up what scarce supplies there are. This means white knighting is a disease in this part of the world.

This girl is not just any girl, she's a top end female in a place where pussy is scarce. If a girl like that puts her mind to it, her chances of hooking a successful engineer or manager who makes 300k+ a year is pretty good. Even if she has a past, guys will trip over themselves to put a ring on the finger of someone like her. I know from first-hand experience, friends of mine are that guy. If she's working at IHOP to pay her way through college, she's a fool. Rack up student loan debt and date a beta, they'll pay the debt off. If she pays her own rent, she's a fool, for the same reason. She lives in an earthly paradise for someone with her appearance and her gender. She lives in, quite literally, rich betas R us.

If she does it now, she can file for divorce, get paid, and still have good CC years left, and with the financial security of not having to work for a living (i.e. alimony). In her part of the world, if she divorces one beta, another will be right along once the alimony checks run out. Even if she has a kid from her first marriage, she's still got it made. I don't know this girl, obviously, since today was the first day I noticed her and our conversation didn't get any further than what I wanted to eat before she had to see to another table, but it hurt when I tabulated all of the ways that someone like her could leverage her natural and environmental advantages, live a cushy existence and never have to work a day the rest of her life, and yet, she does work.

The more I thought about it, the more it bothered me. Men will do anything to be around her. If she went to High School, surely she knows that by now. Surely she's aware of her power. Even if she's as dumb as a brick (and she did bill my order wrong, and her boss had to fix her mistake, so that's a possibility) she has to have noticed how men follow her with their jaws open everywhere she goes. She has to have taken advantage of her position in the past. Girls like her always have orbiters, its a law of nature. Yet, here she is working in an IHOP, when there is no reason for her to be. Even if she never went to college, guess what? There is so much money in the valley, that big companies will hire pretty girls to work in PR and marketing or front desk jobs, that are super-easy, just to have some eye candy to send to conferences and industry trade shows. I know, I've seen this happen first hand more than a few times. This is a woman who, with a little initiative, could easily make four times what IHOP pays her, and that's to start. I look at girls like her and I wonder "do they know how the system works?"

Then I take a step back and I realize, until I found RP, I didn't know how the system worked either. Before I found RP, if I was eating my breakfast, I would have just thought "oh, pretty girl" and that would have been the end of it. RP really does help you see the world differently.
