If a service is too expensive it's much wiser to do it yourself, right? Take that and apply it to men and women. Men might want deference, respect, to be a woman's first priority, etc. But what they're offering is either in abundance like attention, or the default like having a job.

It makes sense for a woman to do as much as possible, if only to keep from having to be beholden to a man. And for men, it makes sense not to make himself a burden by making demands.

Now that's not to say that a woman wouldn't choose to give a man what he wants. But it'll be soley because of his sentimental value, of which there's a lot to be said even if it's not capable of quantifying.
