They do this because they want to be seen as high-value to potential mates (or people). Why try hard at home when you've already locked a guy down? Never know if someone is going to flirt and get their phone number when out and about.

A women's biggest value is her looks and she knows this. This is why they put so much effort to look good when going out. It's all for image. Once she goes home, the husband will be lucky to get starfish sex.
