Where I'm at now

Today I started my first 12 week session of stronglifts 5x5. I have been aware of TRP and reading the sidebar and various post. I cannot express my gratitude enough to the contributors of this subreddit, but some things haven't vibed yet.

Body Where to begin? I'm a black American raised outside of a large-ish Midwestern city that's more like a rural town. My parents got divorced during the summer of my 5th grade year & my mom raised my two older sisters and me. Having two older sisters should have been enough to allow the red pill to be ingested easily because AWALT, but it was not.

TL:DR Black man raised by women.

Current situation I'm surrounded by weak men. When I get a little loose in the lips and speak a little rp knowledge, the safe individuals I sometimes confide in say they hear a lot of hate, regardless of their affirmative feelings on what I'm saying. I'm not in the anger phase often, I love myself more than I love these girls.

Something bothering me about my RP journey are the broad statements made when it comes to aspects of women. The reason it bothers me is because these are similar to the broad statements made about black men & other minorities. For example: 1) AWALT. I understand that this is a mechanism of self preservation. It also helps to see women as people, not snowflakes in need of protection from the white knights.

2) Equality of the sexes means they are actually getting the upper hand. I understand this as if the focus of the different areas of life is getting more women to do things atypical of women, whether it be in industry or wherever, everyone else suffers because women are sought out to fill roles. All these things make sense. My issue, as a black man who is unplugging, is that these statements seem very similar to statements made be groups of people who hate me based on my skin color.

I see parallels in the equality statement, but as we've seen the inclusion of black people hasn't swung the pendulum in favor of black people. As far as AWALT though, I relate it to the derogatory statements made about black men & how many people put me into those categories. Is this me trying to prove myself different than the no good black people out there or is it something else? I'm not sure, it's just where I'm at now.

Note: I went over to TBP and I was disgusted with the disdain they have for TRP and the process we go through to become complete men.
