I saw a comment earlier today that recommended a book on co dependency. I chronically feel like I'm a burden to others, that others can't care about what I'm dealing because of their own issues or dysfunction and it's my responsibility to overcome my issues, and I need to understand that other people "just can't right now" because of their own issues rather than feel disappointed when people don't have time or energy or wherewithal to be there for me. I need to be understanding that everyone is just doing their best and that often means being neglected in my relationships with others because their issues are more pressing and they have less coping skills I guess? I have a therapy appt on Monday and will bring it up. I am wondering if this is a co dependency mindset and if books on co dependency could help? Has anyone experienced this? I don't have this issue with my husband at all. He is the only person in my life I feel like I have any true measure of equal give and take and we can communicate with equal emotional intelligence. But I can't with anyone else. This isn't meant as a brag at all. I've worked really hard in therapy but it seems like with greater emotional intelligence and awareness and responsibility over ones mental hralth comes greater responsibility to manage on your own and accept most people are not able or don't have the skills to support you in any meaningful way. It's just lonely.
