Miss me? Some computer issues have kept me away, but we’re back on track. This is no excuse of course; you should be taking initiative and ownership of your own life, your own actualization, your own improvement. As with everything else we have put all the tools and resources right here for you. Did you do that, or did you sit on your beta ass and wait for me? How’s that for some mindset?

If you haven’t already, you should be reviewing the posts on methods of eating from prior years. Pick your favorite and research it deeper. Report in OYS what changes you’re making, and WHY.

Now, “Eating for Health and Fitness.” What is the mindset for eating? We obviously have to eat to live, but there can be so much more to it than just that. There are eating goals: weight loss, pleasure, body chemistry modification. There are eating philosophies: keto, paleo, vegetarian, vegan, carnivore.

Implicit in all this is that you have a goal. That you are eating with purpose. Boredom and mindlessness in eating are generally, like in all things, poor reasons and will lead to bad choices. So the mindset here is one of recognizing purpose and understanding that eating – in so much as choosing what to eat and when and how much – is a conscious choice on the road to your goals. Admit and acknowledge that your eating matters, that it is a reflection of what and who you choose to be.

Are you eating to gain muscle? Lose weight? Lower cholesterol? It doesn’t matter. Do your research, understand your macros and caloric goals, design your menus and meal plan, and then do that. Do it because you want what it will give you if you do. Do it because you can, as a man of resolve and grit. Do it because all those pathetic bastards you know all around you lack the bravery and willpower to do it.

I won’t be doing any more of these this year (unless someone flakes). Next week we’ll be hearing about hygiene. As always, authors pen their own work within the theme, so we’ll see what else we get. One thing I can promise though is that each post will offer you guidance and perspective on mindset. Keep it up, we’ve only just begun.
