Men are assets, women are liabilities.

Men are valued for the work they can perform. Performance does depreciate with age but one man can train another to take his place. They are cared for less because the assumption is men are always going to be working for society.

Women are valued for their fertility and beauty. They have a limited timespan where they are the most sexually attractive and capable of having children. Women do not train other women to be fertile or beautiful, they are just replaced with younger women when they get older and have nothing else to offer.

The difference between them is that men are treated like wealth generating assets expected to produce resources well into the future. Women are treated like lotteries and given resources up front with the expectation that there will a payoff in the future, such as a long-term relationship and family.
