It's really easy to call him a simp and every other word but my heart goes out to guys like him.

He's from a pre-internet generation when society kept AWALT more in check and feminism wasn't the phenomenon it is today.

It's entirely possible he saw his male peers have relatively happy marriages and now wants that love/companionship for himself.

In the Matrix, Morpheus talks about never unplugging older people as their minds have formed to be so dependent on the fantasy.

Also, he asks for a Goddess but makes it all but clear that he will be God.
