Nobody took religion away and replaced it with science. Science continually enlightens us as to how our natural world works and unfortunately the concepts in the bible don't line up very well with facts. There is no conspiracy, people are driven away from religion by logic and reason alone.

No, dude... the problem runs much deeper than this. Any religion, in literal interpretation, is a BS... you can always find something that modern science proves to be wrong. That's more than enough to prove that God does not exist (like, someone LITERALLY sitting up in the sky). The value of religion is different.

Science offers an objective viewpoint of the world... the moral question comes when it comes to implementing science. When contraception was introduced, it seems to have invalidated the need for moral sexual behavior. Turns out, rampant sex isn't good for society.

The religious stories narrate certain symbolic messages that we don't seem to care for. Now, all we can do is extract those narratives, have a good understanding of them, build our lives around them and move on.
