tl;dr Those in life who hurt you serve to make you stronger, pain is growth and growth is good, therefore by extension some pain is good.

A field report of sorts. While lifting is heavily advocated on here, I feel like equally as important is learning how to fight. Martial arts give you a sense of calm that can only come from knowing you can waste just about any mother fucker in the room if shit hits the fan. By knowing how to fight you'll avoid 99% of fights. People don't like to pick fights they don't think they can win, and when you know you can win it reflects in your attitude and body language thus making the other person reconsider should they get any ideas. I digress.

Since swallowing the pill I decided to get back into martial arts, I wrestled all through high school(I could write a whole post about lessons learned from that) and throughout the years dabbled in various martial arts. However having swallowed the pill at the beginning of this year I decided to pick one and stick with it, so I started with traditional jiu-jitsu with some judo thrown in for good measure. Now this is where it gets interesting. I couldn't figure out why but after the 1st month the coaches started getting rough, it wasn't unusual for me to start coming home literally polka-dotted with bruises. I began to reflect on this as a man should do before jumping to conclusions. After two more months of this, I began to realize something, I had developed one hell of a pain tolerance. I began to notice the difference between when something hurt and when something was actually a danger. My coaches were hurting me on purpose. Let that sink in for a minute, they were deliberately causing pain, but they were doing so to force me to grow. Now although they were intentionally hurting me they were also doing their best not to actually injure me. This is the root of the story and brings me to...

Lessons Learned:

When people hurt you it spurs your growth, sometimes when people hurt you it's for your own good. When some other man fucks your girl, he's actually doing you a favor. Yes it hurts, but at the same time he's showing what a worthless whore she is. We are Men, we are creatures that will perpetually wound eachother. This is a good thing, for from the wounds growth happens. How many of you would have never found this place had you not been wounded? This is the difference between Men and Women. When a woman gets hurt she cries out until someone helps here. When a man gets hurt, he figures out how to make sure that shit never happens again and he grows from it. Don't whine about the pain, grow from it, however much like in life know when to "tap out" to prevent injury. This is the same concept as Nexting, sometimes you have to "tap out" of relationships and just accept it's done and there's nothing you can do about it. Go lift, Go learn how to fight.
