Reminds me of that post in a questions and answers site about a woman asking her neighbor to look at her children while she had to “do something” one afternoon. After that, she goes in the internet to ask how to force him to pay child support, BECAUSE HE DID NOT CHARGE HER AND BECAME A “FATHERLY” FIGURE (for a few hours, one afternoon, no sex, no relationship).

Even when I wanted to get married I really gave a lot of thought about what I was going to leave to my hypothetical kids. And I thought that seeing all the petty conflicts that arise from a parent dying and the (adult) kids fighting over the real estate, I would sell the house even before I died and just retire in Mexico or Brazil. And they would get squat, or maybe only the grandkids would get some cash out of the sale and other assets.

And after being engaged (and this is the same ex fiancee that I've shared stories about) I realized women are especially guilty of wanting the parents' house. That's how it was with my ex. There was going to be a dispute over my ex in laws' house brewing especially after my ex father in law got really sick at one point. And at one point she suggested the crazy idea of us getting married and moving in with her parents. Which I opposed vehemently. The house was never going to be mine and I wasn't heartless to where I was going to kick them out either. All it was I was a bookend to help my ex clinch the house before her sisters and sisters in law did.

It's different with one of my older brothers. He recently finished paying off the house he bought for himself and my mom. He never married and is pretty much MGTOW. He's a quirky and wild guy but with a big heart which is why he deserves that house. And in the event he and my mom die before the rest of us do, at the last resort I would propose we put the house on the market, sell it and split the proceeds and settle it once and for all.
