They used his character for his popularity and gave all the achievements for the female characters on the show since they passed the books adaptation. Every thing he has been involved since they passed the books, i.e. since he returned from the dead, has been a failure in his arc. What did he exactly do since they passed the books? They made Sansa win BOTBs, he continuously gets himself into impossible situations, where he had to be rescued by woman(Sansa and Dany) repeatedly. Arya kills the Night King, who probably hasn't even heard about Night King before the last season. This kid(Arya) kills Freys(entire house) single handedly, Kills LF along with her sister(another "You go girl" moment). In addition, Jon follows behind another SJW icon Dany the entire last season with two dialogues "Yeh r muh qween" and "I dun wan it" shit all while getting insults like dick and height jokes. He is nothing but a joke after last season and hated because he killed a feminazi who massacred the population after going mad.
