"Justifying themselves while blaming other" - this makes me think of the gender pay gap myth.

Women earn less during their lifetime because they choose lower paying jobs, are more likely to work part time, and take years off at a time for career breaks. However, rather than accept that they have earned less due to their own life choices, they instead blame sexism.

Eh, both the leading characters get married for no good reasons. The plot is mostly "competent" people defeating "incompetent" people, so it's extremely predictable what happens. Politics is extremely dumbed down to "corruption and incompetence is bad". It also tries to portray itself as a historical documentary. However, the historians in the series make uncharacteristic subjective views such as hypotheticals of what so-and-so could've been amazing only if they lived in a different time and other fallacies instead of reporting history as objective records. Overall it's an above average anime, but not nearly as good as "greatest space-opera of all time" as op wants you to believe.
