It seems that way, yes. I think of the Dave Chappell skit where he said something about going up to a person dressed like a cop and asking for help, only to find out they're not actually a cop.

I think there's a lot of issues with communication and understanding on all sides. We have to have our own shit together to be successful in a relationship. That can be hard sometimes and unfortunately learned after we're already with someone.

There are some behaviors I had/Have that I thought were fine and normal, but have realized it's unhealthy and from issues in my childhood. Read No More Mr Nice Guy when you get a chance. Great book. I feel it's made me a better person.
