The blunt truth is that most cops (especially "townie" traffic cops) don't actually know the "law" at all -- what they usually have is a vague understanding of a half dozen codes that they issue "citations" under -- usually after (often VERY) brief training on them.

* Not saying you're at all wrong about the "diversity" stuff; as I have no doubt that makes it significantly WORSE -- just that the problem exists even without that stuff -- always has (in fact it's a long-standing "joke"... just go watch the old "Andy Griffith Show" and note how often his deputy Barney Fife fucks everything all up; and that was back in a simpler era and a small town).

Happened to me.

Get stopped after just leaving a roundabout by a young female cop, obviously on training or something with an older cop hanging out in the back.

"One of your fog lights is not working and in these conditions (clear day) you are not allowed to run foglight anyway"

Me and guy cop start giggling .. then he explained her the function of (at that time pretty new on the streets) corner lights.

Riding bicycles on the side-walk in Ontario, Canada is actually against the law--and cops will actually ticket you. The nanny provincial governments have deemed part of the roadways as bicycle lanes--some have even put bollards up so that cars cannot use them at all--HOW INEFFICIENT IS THAT? Canada is literally covered in snow and ice from mid-Oct to mid-Apr...and even if the roads are clear in Feb--the temperature (-5ºC to -40ºC) isn't conducive for bicycle riding (unless you're a fucking moron)
