Don’t forget mass murders

Yeah, guys working middle class jobs owned homes, cheating was frowned upon, kids grew up to be productive....
What a terrible time
[–]muracc923 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Um.. this generation gave birth to hippies, so that productive children thing is largely out the window

1950's parents popularized buying your child's happiness with material gifts over instilling actual hard working values. That probably has something to do with it.

well family life isn't as easy as that picture shows it, but as you clearly put it, it was really a better alternative. ok, the guys had to work a 9-5 and maybe bury some dreams for their family life, the wife had to live a more domesticated life and had to give up a few of her dreams, but overall there was reliance, trust, some iota of family and care. now women are literally promoted to fuck 20 guys on tinder a month as a way to empower themselves. fuck.

Good were the times when sluts were kept in check by their own fathers, brothers, husbands, community, and often, even by their own sons, through the threat of violence and the threat of ostracism
Sadly, the 1950's were not some of these times
[–]teslaistheshit30 points31 points32 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Women were sluts even back then but did a much better job of hiding it because of the ramifications. The only difference now is being a slut is "cute" or "silly" until all the incurable STD's run amok.

Yeah you need go way back than fifties. Pre-WW1 at latest

"Son I'm going to fight another strong country to defend our freedom, while I'm out I put you in charge, protect your mother and your sister, I love you, son"

Also never forget.. that this is just an idealistic portrait of what a model american family might have looked like. However these images are unrealistic and largely propaganda tools.
[–]lipidsly8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Tfw having a nice bbq with your family is “an ideaistic portrait”
Christ
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, I didn't know I was being "propaganda" when I was sitting with a soda with my gramps watching the game whilst drinking a beer and frying up some brats.
[–]lipidsly0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Beer is liquid estrogen. Drink that good ol firewater
[–]muracc920 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
You seem to not understand. It's propaganda because it shows a sliver of "quality life", under the impression that it was all great back then. And anyone who was an adult during the 50's are nearly all dead so they can't account how living in that time was. Like you really think it was all fine and dandy until the 60's and sexual revolution came, are you that naive? This is propaganda in the same sense as the disney fairytales, which it seems mgtow understand. It's highlight reels with no behind the scenes, pure fantasy. Oh and since your childhood memory is somehow a representative for ALL life in that era. You think this was the majority, wife with cooked meals every day, backyard bbq, everone smiling? I wonder if inner city ghettos were this wholesome?
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
To sum up. I am 45 years old. I am not naive enough to think that "everything was better then." That said, young men were able to land a job, start a family, buy a home, and have weekend cookouts much more so than they are able to today.
..And yes, my grandmother would bring out trays of lemonade on a platter for everyone------> because people actively tried to imitate this ideal.
[–]Thaaleo0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
So is your point that there aren’t BBQs anymore because of feminism, or are you just babbling? People still have backyard brats and beer all the damn time. I guess maybe we might have to pour our own lemonade at them more often, but I’m not really sure that equates to societal decay.

Boo. I'm 45; growing up, gramps would still do sunday barbeques with the family in the back yard.

I've never experienced a dad like that. Mine was mostly absent in my life. It must be nice growing up without all the anxiety, depression, isolation, self hate that fatherless guys like us deal with into adulthood
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
In all honesty I don’t believe it’s just fatherless, i was raised by my dad w/o a mother and i exert all the symptoms.
[–]HierEncore2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
very interesting. I had a friend who grew up that way and became super-hypergamous. I mean a real poonhound... always wondered if that was an effect of growing up motherless.. probably not
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
ultimately our parents our the first role models on how to love and what love means. I don't think it matters if you have 1 or 2 parents or father or mother as long as AT LEAST one of them is loving and gives you a good example of how to communicate emotions. problem too many people have ZERO quality parents and single parents, especially single moms tend to have tons of extra drama they project onto the kids.

Sounds nice but doesn't seem to be the case for most people I know

The predatory female was not different. But, society had mechanisms to keep her in check.

You got that right, they're just looking to go back. "I'll tell you what, if you cook, clean, screw me periodically and stfu, I'll pay your way lick your boots and do as you ask. But you have to promise that I'll be the only man" Simps in wolves clothing

1920 was the year every man should remember. The year that the hedge trimmer there got the chance to vote.
They ain't like us gents. Nothing like us. All those freedoms you extend them and all that virtue and reason stowed in your head are at odds. They have neither your reason nor your virtue. For all that the society built by men will crash to the ground. I sincerely hope records are kept when a more reasonable society emerges from the ashes. Enough evidence to never lose the why behind the cause again.
