I have a “friend” that I was helping with one of the graduate courses that we’re both in. We were supposed to be typing out answers to some questions that were assigned that day so we met up outside of class. As we’re getting started I begin to tell her that I have already answered a couple questions that she’s working on. As she’s doing this I try to read over her shoulder to see if what she’s typing is correct. As I’m working on my own paper 10 minutes later she tells me she has to leave because she forgot her charger in another building but that she’ll be back once she gets it. She then texts me an excuse for why she won’t be able to make it back that day. No problem, right? Wrong. The next day she texts me that I was being creepy for “hovering over her” while she typed. I told her that I was just trying to read over her shoulder and that I hope she understands. I’m afraid that she may plan to spread this rumor about me on campus which could affect my future. I don’t plan to ever help or talk to her again.
