One of my early heroes. I read his journals, and in it, there was a phrase that stuck with me and steered me away from marital bliss. He said, "domestic life, so often the opposite of an inner life." I know that won't be impactful to anyone here, but it rang SO TRUE to me when I first read it (probably 35 years ago now), it lodged in my mind and never left. It translated to "get married, lose your inner life." And I love my inner life. ... Anyhow, just wanted to share that.

Nobel prize winning author, one-time member of the French Resistance during World War II, expert goalkeeper, and one of the principal leaders of the Absurdist movement, one of the greatest French writers and philosophers of the 20th century is best remembered for his landmark works, The Stranger, The Plague, and The Fall, but his gravestone is small and virtually unknown.

Absolutely true. Camus is heavily underrated, even in philosophical circles. Inner life is so critical to growth and wisdom and women will not let you reflect for a moment. Unless it’s reflecting on them.
