I went for a slice of pizza with a friend tonight. We were sitting, shooting the shit, but I couldn't help but notice a blonde sitting across the way.

She looked remarkably like a girl who I made out with at the weekend, but didn't get to seal the deal and got no number. But then a minute later she looked nothing like her.

I figured I had to go over, or it'd be killing any momentum from the weekend. I don't usually do this.

But, the biggest factor being that I would be unconquesting myself, I said 'fuck it'. I didn't want to ruin any chance with this previous girl by not going over.

I sat down, and she took out her earphones and it was totally not her.

I wasn't prepared for this. I guess my face went red, I was a little flustered, but I powered through with a little chit-chat. We talked about the nice pocket of neighborhood, what she was writing and laughed at a similarity in our names. Nothing magnificent. So I figured it had run its course. I said we should hang out.

She said okay. And then looked at me for the next step.

I was also unprepared for this. It took me a second, then I had to scoot back to my table to grab my phone. But I got her digits and took off with my friend.

He was sure that it was the girl from the weekend, since I'd got digits.

Then I realized that every day I am doing the thing I was afraid of tonight. I was afraid of ruining the already good chance of future notches by not acting. But I didn't realize that the scenario works just as well for a random girl I'd never met.

Every day when I don't talk to a cute girl I'm wasting an opportunity for a future notch. They want you to talk to them. I'm not built, but not out of shape. I'm 5'8. I try to dress well and groom but I'm no tall dark and handsome.

Just saying hello puts you in a place where you have a chance. I don't want to waste any more of those.

While I didn't meet my previous girl - who I had a good chance with - I now have a new number who I have a good chance with.

I knew this logically, but I needed it to happen physically for it to really sink in.

Thanks TRP.
