This is so so sadly true. Was so close to becoming a helicopter pilot in the military I could reach out and touch it. Lifelong dream and all the hard work gone with a phone call and false claims of abuse.

Funny how my mom would totally get mad at my dad for buying new bikes every year.

Best part is my dad bought a warehouse space to store the rest of his bikes and even has a workshop to fix them, my mom still doesn’t know till this date.

Can confirm. I moved away from the big city years ago after college and knew I was going to be moving to a ski/bike/resort town.

Many years later, I'm still in the same ski town, with a great paying job, single, and happy as a clam. I ride my bikes everyday day before work, sometimes I try to make it a multi-sport day and see how many things I can do in a single day. Ride trials at the base of the resort before all the tourist nerds wake up, switch over to my XC bike and pedal up the mountain, hammer out 10 miles, get the paddle-board and paddle the river, or hike, if I still have the energy do some weight training, or take a nap on my couch. Ski season rolls around and I ski all morning until work in the afternoon.

I followed through with my dreams that I knew when I was a teenager I was going to accomplish. I was going to live in a resort town, and do what I love: Being outside on my bikes, or in the snow. I keep my camping gear always on the go because 30 minutes in my car I can be so far away from everyone in the woods doing what I love. Being in the back-country. If I want to spend 6 grand on that new bike? Guess what? Im gonna. I want those sweet new AT bindings? Ill buy them too. Do I really need a new ski coat I already have 6, but North Face is giving me this killer Pro deal so hell, Im gonna buy that coat while Im at it. Life is good boys.
