80s movies and shows are being remade all the time.

80s music is still played all the time.

The 80s were the last decade when, as hard as it is to imagine, real shit was actually being made in media. Movies, tv, music, etc.

The 80s were leftovers of the seventies where you have actual music and musicians. You could actually be an ugly rockstar or guitar player back then.

In the late 80s started the “decline”.

You saw this with the writers strike and TV went to pure corporate inventions. Reality shows spring up by the zillions, and no writers or actors were really needed. Everyone flips out now at an original movie or tv show, but that actually used to be common.

Music went to be shittier with auto tune and boy bands and “looks and style before substance”. Gone were ugly musicians and music writers, now it’s all lip syncs and professional music writers behind the scenes doing all the work while Brittany writhes around on stage.

So you had thousands of clones and the same sound for everyone and music was pretty much over produced blandness.

It wasn’t that the 80s didn’t do similar things, but the 90s went over the top. Rap and hip hop meant you didn’t even really need musicians anymore. And you wanted a street and gangster vibe. Same with professional grunge. Grunge went from a breakout group to everyone pretending to be grunge and corporate invented grunge.

So 80s music was the last time, insane as it was, you had a few “good” pieces of music being made that wasn’t just the exact same over produced corporate nonsense. The 80s were already collapsing at the end anyway, so it wasn’t doing that great anyway.

Another problem was, make fun of how people looked at the outfits of the 80s, but at least people tried to look good when they went out.

90s fashion tried to make women as literally ugly as possible. Jeans were all low rise, saggy ass, oversized, elephant legs and flannel. Women’s fashion was atrocious in the 90s and you can make fun of skinny jeans and yoga pants now, but the 90s were a time that women looked their worst.

So you combine all that together and 80s music make fond memories for many people because the 90s+ really sucked ass in a lot of ways.

Plus guys that like 80s music might be a desireble demographic to exploit for premium snap chat income and instagram followers.

Or the music was better. Dealers choice.

In all fairness, there was some great music from the 80's. It is a lot better than the garbage being produced today. I don't even listen to FM radio anymore. Several movies and TV shows have reminded us how great some 80's music is.
