As I'm aiming for financial independence/early retirement, I thought it might be a good idea to retire abroad where the cost of living would be cheaper than the US, such as in Thailand, Malaysia, etc

I have lived abroad briefly before so I'm somewhat aware of the challenges with living abroad such as dealing with the language barrier, difficulties integrating with the locals and making local friends, etc. But I think these issues didn't bother me as much as it would for typical expats because I already felt ostracized by US society being a short, ethnic minority male

Anyone here retire or spent alot of time living in a lower cost of living country? Do you recommend it? Or is it better to just retire in your home country?
