Sorry this unrelated but this reminded me of another story. I cant remember the name.

But the woman was accussed of killing her baby. I think she left it in a pool or something. Or just left the house to go party for a few days with no one to look after the kid. I remember her being chastised for going to party instead of taking care of the kid. In the end i dont think she fot punished.
