They really are pushing the whole "man's weak ego" right now, to the point it's funny, I see it everywhere. Ironically enough it's mainly used by mentally unstable people.

Also, being an narcissist with an over-inflated ego is even worse, but whatever I guess. Men are not the one that end up crying the moment anyone in the world doesn't find them attractive or say the word "fat". Hell, a famous person in France said that he couldn't possibly date a woman in her 50, and all women are crying because they're "hurt" as if their life depended of this one guy. Talk about having a fragile ego.

Kinda funny to see that the gender catering to things like fat acceptance is the one talking about the weakness of a man's ego. Oh the irony.

pussy (n.1)

"cat," 1726, diminutive of puss (n.1), also used of a rabbit (1715). As a term of endearment for a girl or woman, from 1580s (also used of effeminate men). To play pussy was World War II RAF slang for "to take advantage of cloud cover, jumping from cloud to cloud to shadow a potential victim or avoid recognition."

Regarding the above, the story "Puss In Boots" has been in publication with that title (and that meaning of "puss" = "cat") i English since 1729 (and rather obviously the term "puss" was already in use for "cat" in common English by then).

pussy (n.2)

slang for "female pudenda," 1879, but probably older; perhaps from Old Norse puss "pocket, pouch" (compare Low German puse "vulva"), but perhaps instead from the cat word (see pussy (n.1)) on notion of "soft, warm, furry thing;" compare French le chat, which also has a double meaning, feline and genital. Exactly when & why it began being used as a slang term for female genitalia is open to debate. But there is massive evidence (in various TV sitcoms, etc with double-entendre jokes about a women taking care of her "pussy") for the fact it goes back AT LEAST to the 1960's; and there is other evidence (late 19th century vaudeville acts/songs like "Do You Want To See My Pussy?" where the same double-entedre joke was the core of the humor) that its use to refer not just to cats and women, but female genitalia... is well over a century old.

Oh, and nowhere, no way, no how is that at all related to the word "pusillanimous".
