There's no need for op-ed content. People want broadsheets, not tabloids and they're discovering all news is fake news because journalists are subject matter experts in the extensive field of nothing.

I didn't read the whole article, but I skimmed it for the inevitable assertion that it isn't their fault. Had to get near the end to find it:

Yeah, investors need to be willing to lose money to help the females et al, and men with success in the field need to help them as well. LMAO. So predictable.

Demkiewicz added: “Magazines need more money, but they also need leaders with integrity.”

So they need rich white men to give them money and leadership.

Why can’t independent feminist websites stay afloat?

There are interconnected problems—from revenue struggles to conflicting management interests—that are eliminating spaces for important journalistic voices and publishers, including that of feminist, independent media. These sites tend to cover issues through an essential analytical lens that might not be found on other sites geared toward women. To continue to lose these voices and online spaces is to deprive the modern-day feminist movement of vital discussions.

If no one is willing to listen, are the voices really important?

If no one is willing to pay for it, is the lens really essential?

If feminists just keep plugging along, are the discussions had by these e-zines really vital?

It’s not easy for legacy or independent media sites to stay afloat financially, even if the target audience isn’t female-identifying. According to Erica Gruen, however, women tend to be bigger media consumers than men, and there are many ways for advertisers to reach them. Gruen is a principal at Quantum Media and television, advertising, and digital media veteran.

It's really difficult to stay afloat when the only products you're selling are paranoia and neuroticism (the world itself seeks to oppress you).

While women's tastes generally run to the sadomasochistic (50 Shades of women exposing their own psyches), they don't want to be bored and feminist 'journalism' is so predictable and formulaic that it could be cranked out by manatees with rubber balls.

Translation: Feminists ideologues hate rich white men, but want a rich white sugar daddy to come in, give them an allowance, and teach them how to run a business in exchange because RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY.
