I work at a prominent restaurant in a prominent hotel in the South East. I was relaying a divorce story of two friends of mine. The man lied to his wife about his debt which was around 10 to 15k and the wife felt she couldn't trust him bc of that. They have only been married for less than two years and this was the first big issue, that I know of l, in their marriage. He wants to go to counseling and she doesn't. She feels she can't trust him anymore.

I was relaying the story the two female bakers in my restaurant. As I was telling the story one of the bakers, black female, asked if that was all. I get she was asking, subtly, if maybe there was some infidelity involved. I said no bc the wife did comment that she would be able to forgive him if he had been unfaithful to her which I thought was crazy. The 2nd Baker, another black female, shared the same reaction as I did.

The first Baker then asked why all my stories are misogynistic. I was taken off-guard by this. I then responded that no it wasnt just bc the man wasnt doing anything wrong. She then said I was a Misogynist for making that comment. To which I said maybe it's not me but you who are viewing it that way bc you're jaded. Mind you she is coming out of a recent breakup with a guy she went ring shopping with. She then called me a Misogynist again for saying that. I raised my hands and said I am done and walked away.

This has me a bit fired up and worried about a potential HR incident.

Any advice?
