Marriage was about politics, family dynasties, land, etc.

It wasn't about "love" and all that dumb shit. It wasn't a "good deal" it was a societal expectation and pretty much existed for children to carry on family names and such.

At the lower classes where agriculture was still the primary "work", more children meant more free labor, so that was good.

Feminism just made modern marriage, which was already absolutely stupid to begin with, worse by pointing out how horrible women are. So at least in that regard, it benefitted those who go RP.

I try not to make other men's decisions for them, so that's not really an answerable question for me. Were I in a hot tub time machine and somehow back in the early or mid-twentieth century, would I find marriage reasonable (never mind the immense social pressure in favor of it)? I don't know--maybe.

I would find it unnecessary because I find women emotionally and materially unnecessary, but I might still find it reasonable. Back then power in marriage went in both directions: women had ways of controlling men, but men also had ways of controlling women. Today it's completely asymmetric and therefore an abysmally bad idea, but back then there might've been some way to find a reasonable arrangement with a reasonable rate of social exchange.

No, it never was and never will be. As we know, history not only repeats itself but history is written and governed by the winner. We’ll never truly know how things have fundamentally been throughout history, we can only gain a small window of understanding.

We’re simply intelligent apes, living on a rock, floating through the cosmos. We’re trying to play at something more, when we’re not much to start with. There is no such thing as “love”, especially not in relationship form, the most you can hope for is companionship and even that’s a lost cause.

The social and political climate has drastically changed over the course of the last few decades. What was left of the nails still holding down the planks have all but been removed and thus the floodgates, feminism or no feminism, have been let loose only for them to subside sometime in the future once again, and thus the cycle repeats itself.

There were less than 1.2 billion people on earth. Maintaining something more than a tent required a lot of time. Since accumulating above survival level resources required every waking hour, the division of labor made adaptive sense.

Schools existed to make women submissive feminine and lady like. Laws existed to protect men and hypergamy was punished

Over time I do think It was the best of a bad situation. I’d rather have that than the pound me too witch hunt cultural Marxist gynocentric horse manure we have now

Before government want to force people to split assets at the very least men have nothing to lose, you can divorce with no asset rob, I’d say break even.
