I think the rule of thumb is you take the number she gives you and multiply it by 2-3 and that's her actual lay count. Women always lowball their number to appear less like a slut, since they don't count one night stands, they don't count blowjobs, they don't count anal, or whatever weird arbitrary exceptions they set for themselves.

Anyway, the reason why men care about a woman's lay count is because it is statistically proven that more partners = higher chances for divorce, the stats don't lie. The science also makes sense; as a woman fucks more men, it becomes harder for her to pair bond (which then leads to higher chances of her cheating, filing for divorce, etc.). As a woman fucks more men, her standards increase, her hypergamy instinct becomes stronger. Of course the best option is to just get a doll. 69 times cheaper in the long run, 9001 times less stressful, no risk for STDs, and most women just lay there like a beached whale anyway so you won't even notice a difference half the time.
