I think you should ditch all social media accounts ASAP unless you need them for work.

If you want to rely on the faux-prestige the modestly large followings you will accrue to net women then I'd say prepare to be lonely.

The damned things are always more hassle than they are worth.

This sub is very polarizing about social media. 1/2 thinks you need to be on all of them to game women, 1/2 thinks that it is beta-supreme to have a facebook page. I say that you should exist in the grey area.

Have a facebook page so you can use messenger, events and be tagged in photos with friends/ hot girls. Don't post any of your own "random thoughts," how you're feeling, memes or your own pics. Don't be active on it and don't try to "game girls" by commenting on their photos and especially don't try to neg. It just comes across as try-hard.

Same with Snapchat - use it to chat with girls but never make your own stories. Use it as a tool, not a crutch. I've never been on instagram, never saw the need for it. But if you can use it without looking like you are trying too hard, then go for it.

Lots of guys I work with have the foundation of manliness.

Blacksmiths earn a very good living and they're generally smarter than average. Most of them are gym junkies too.

But they're dirty. They smell funny. They have rubbish beards and generally shave their heads because of the safety equipment. They don't wear suit and tie. They earn significantly more than their managers, because managers are a dime a dozen.

As a result, they don't get much interest from the ladies. Women would rather have the IDEA of a successful man, like a stereotypical lawyer, even though we earn triple and are way more fun to be around.

Social media is an SMV playground for me and here's a few tidbits I've learned:

"Social media will attract girls on social media"

Yes it has skewed the market; ergo what girls are looking for when they have access to the internet. But it's not the only platform.

From just discussing with older men on here and IRL men who frequent bars always had the highest lay counts. Because bars attract girls who go to bars. Which is a physical place where you can practice real kino, show real emotion, etc.

Is that simple of logic really. Logistics is key. With the infinitive of the internet, you might cast a wider net but the number of girls you actually fuck have to be nearby. And in order for them to be nearby and your friends they have to be in your social circle.

So what I'm saying is, that social media is no substitute for an already socially thriving life. It's merely a supplicant. Like vitamins to a body builder. An additional kick in his already nutritious diet to ensure he's covered the bases.

I think sometimes peiple need to make up.their own minds, too many people take TRP advice too literally that in my opinion they are forgetting to think for themselves.

Do you want social media? What is important to you? Do you care about X likes or X ammount of friends or what X is doing at any given time?

Think for your self, if social media is detrimental to you then don't use it and if you live across the world away from every single member of your family then maybe use it.

It's relevant to you, not just to you getting laid.

If you need X likes to get laid on your pictures, then I don't think you are really listening to the TRP principle anyway.

I'm late late 20's, so my opinion is probably different from most. Perhaps for the young ones, teens and early 20's, SM plays a huge role. For late 20's and up, I think it plays almost no role.

But I'm sorry, this sounds like a joke. How much time did you spend looking at instagram? How much time did you spend on stupid bullshit for your instagram? How much time will you spend in the future trying to take photos? This sounds like an enormous amount of maintenance to maintain an image, rather than working on making the image real.

At the end of the day, I think it's about balance. Do all the shit you need to improve your life, and if you take an odd photo along the way, great. I wouldn't spend anytime scoping other girls IG accounts; there is no greater waste of time. If you're horny, go to pornhub instead, at least you're not kidding yourself. This way you can still show social proof through the odd update, but it will be balanced by a IDGAF attitude that will show through a half assed attempt.

I personally barely touch SM bullshit, I'm too busy achieving real feats. Then again, I recall on multiple occasions women ghosting me after adding me on FB from Tinder and seeing no status updates in years. I have never had this issue with women I met first and then added on FB.

social media/networking is only what you make of it. you will get out of it what you want to get out of it. these apps/sites are not one dimensional.. there's tons of options.

someone asked what can you possibly get out of it that's good? i'll mention quite a bit here...

people tag in and post pictures of places nearby. this helps when trying to find new/interesting bars or restaurants to try.
facebook has marketplace feature now that's blowing up. people post shit for sale for cheap. lots of good deals
friends talk about what shows are popular or what topics are trending. not saying you should be a couch potato, but it does not help socially if everyone's talking about a show or tv event and you're clueless. same with trending topics
it helps you pick up on proper slang and popular music. nothing worse than talking to some girl 20 years younger than you and not understanding wtf she's saying.
self promotion as some people noted. really just starts with you loving yourself and then posting very few updates. if your network is large enough, people will notice and you put in very small amount of work.
family/friend functions or parties are super easy to manage
local events like a couple years ago there was a chocolate festival in a small town about 30 miles away, on mother's day. i asked my mom if she'd heard of it and if she'd like to go. she said wow i'd love to do that, they do it every year and i never go, that's so sweet! wow man that made her so fuckin happy. would have never known without facebook.
connected with a dude from high school who now runs his own landscape company. he's doing my backyard for fuckin cheap now.
not only is social networking whatever you make of it, but keep in mind that other people make whatever THEY want out of it. so some people are annoying. you know what? you can stay friends but have their posts not show up in your feed. so if you're one of the kinds of people who hate seeing the drama, they have options for that.

honestly i don't see any reason why people would NOT want to have social network accounts, unless you're the type who gets so distracted with it that they can't function on important things... and forreal if that's the case then i'm gonna bet that social network isn't your core issue. also i can keep rattling off more benefits if you want. just figured it was getting long.

I use to agree with that, but throwing away social media you might as well chop off your arms. Basically it hinders you now more than say 5 years ago. Beyond just women really think now without having a social media presence it's the equivalent of being the anti-social kid in school. Unless you just got it like that to go off the grid by all means do so.

I think Facebook is the only social media that anyone should need and use it ONLY for staying in touch with people through messenger. Whenever I see someone constantly posting statuses/shares/selfies I can only think to myself... Does this person have a life?
