Let me tell you a bit about myself first. I'm a mathematician, 44 years old. I invest my time and my focus for diverse interests: mathematics, physics, pilates, chess, shogi, go. I am polite but I usually stay away from women. I'm a social vegan - I avoid meet. No marriage, no relationship, (probably) no kids. It took me years of self improvement but now I can enjoy my own companionship.

Sometimes I'd like to spend time with my friends and vice versa - but they are married or in a relationship. This becomes more and more a topic. The other day a married friend wanted to have an after-work beer with me. But first he had to talk to his wife. And his wife had to speak with her mother and a co-worker to get "everything organised" - but it wasn't possible eventually. Excuse me please but WTF? We are talking about an after-work beer, not a journey round the world. He acts like a hamster in a bogie wheel, always busy with time pressure.

Giving money is simple: you just hand it over. But giving time as a present is different. If you want to give your time for somebody, he must afford the same amount of time to accept this present.

I can't help him. It's his way of life and it's my decision to go my own way. Needless to say, his wife means chaos and drama, sometimes she wants a divorce and a second child. :-)
