Will be a little vague here to try and protect myself. I work with Veterans and have for years. I love my work, dad was a Vet, grew up in the culture, but went the college route. I apply for a position out of state and when I arrive find out the person who had my position before me is now supervisor (she somehow skipped a year in grade requirement). I can’t seem to land a male boss for anything. Anyway, she is the mother of several girls that she describes as having drug and mental health issues. She gets off on being boss, it’s clear. I know immediately I am fucked when I hear her gossiping about coworkers, when a co-worker tells me she wears the pants in the relationship (her husband also works there). I go into her office one day and she’s got the Feminism Movement woman in blue shirt/yellow bandanna on the wall. I overhear her talking about how much power she has in the workplace and how she “owns all of us”. She clearly doesn’t like me as I’m not a submissive bitch to her. The next thing I know I’m on “administrative duties”. A lifetime devoted to Veterans and my career, likely ruined. It is simply not safe being a male with a female manager.
