Silence is a gift, and it's so hard to appreciate that fact until you have it taken away from you.

Tonight, for instance, I decided on an angry whim to stop working on several projects at once, with several people bitching at me, and just go do some grocery shopping at 2:00 in the fucking morning. And I found myself actually enjoying the time spent driving through town and walking through extremely empty stores. Seeing the streets so vacant, the parking lots barren, and not a soul in sight in the store made me realize that I would kill for some time alone. I mean I was still in town, but I suddenly had space. I suddenly didn't feel completely crowded and pestered. It was quiet.

Silence, even in small doses, is more precious than gold.

Ahhh …. the sound of silence. When you're alone you can hear the leaves scraping along the ground in a breeze. You can hear your thoughts and reflections.
