google does not recognize international men's day, as it is not recognized as an official international day by the united nations. there was a big huff about google not releasing a doodle for it last year as well. coincidentally, the 19th of November is also international women's entrepreneurship day, and world toilette day. I would assume the left-thinktank that is google would sooner recognize [womens entrepreneurship day or toilette day] these.

I wrote this before, but in my country the men's day is constituted with "defender of the fatherland day" 23 of february. There is a conscription here, and the conscripts are hazed hard. If I went to the army i could have returned mentally and physically broken, but as "a real man". This is such an insult of a holiday, to define half of the population by the hard and dangerous task they are forced to do. And it's not even men-only, as women with military-related jobs are take credit too. Disgusting.

International Womens' Day is March 8 of every year. It was established in 1909. It's only fitting that there is an International Mens' Day. It was established in 1992.

I will be celebrating by leaving work early to interview for a position with one of the top optical manufacturers in the world, and then going home and enjoying either a 1) large steak of my choice or 2) a fat hunk of wild salmon.... either one will be accompanied by a delicious stout!
