I wonder how outraged society would be if shows like this or Bosom Buddy's were rebooted? I cannot image how the social justice warriors and the hyper sensitive - easily offended public would take it.

From most of the comments on this post, it's clear that most people have no context for the image because they're too young to have seen shows like Bosom Buddies or MASH.
They don't understand that the duo in the one show, and the character above in the other aren't transsexuals or even true cross-dressers, they're doing it as a running joke in the show in order to cheat the system for their own advantage: getting a cheap apartment for women only in one case, and trying to get sent home from the Korean War on a Section 8 in the other.
The whole point of him dressing up like this is to try and use his supposed belief that he was a woman as a way of getting out of the war, where presumably if he succeeded he'd go back to wearing men's clothes in the States; the joke is that the whole camp knew this was his premise, so there was very little chance he'd actually get kicked out of the Army. The irony is that he's very much like those straight men who claimed to believe they were women for like an hour so that they could win some female sports record by default, then go right back to being men openly secure in the knowledge that by the far left's twisted logic, there's no way they could deny his scam.
