It’s true, I go to this one local strip club of mine and I pay to go in the champagne room but I actually get laid in there. Teachers are massively over valued. I had several teachers that just sat around doing nothing and reading the newspaper waiting out their union retirement.
And look what public schools are producing as output these days. For a bunch of feminists who only care about outcome metrics, they sure seem to fail in public schools where they control everything.

Teachers shouldn't be appreciated at all, they're just shelving kids for 8 hours a day because no one wants to stay home and be a homemaker.

I dont know where you are from but for me teachers are paid like 75k a year and they still bitch. That is over 100k a year if you factor in their 3 months vacation.
And it isnt a secret about a teachers salary. Frankly they should be paid less

Totally agree 100% and they are taking out classes like home ec and career/life related classes for the purpose of college prep. It’s insane and completely retarded.
Also there needs to be a physical requirement to graduate high school if you are not disabled you need to be able to run a mile in 8 minutes. That’s not that hard. No more fat fucks.

I think teaching is sort of an antiquated profession these days. With computers and AI and live streaming you could create fully interactive home schooling at a computer and a single person with some actual skill could give 1 on 1 instruction to a student when they need it and support hundreds of students instead of just a class of 30 and just have kids come in for practical instruction one day a week. AI could tailor the material to children specifically and monitor their learning without the need for extensive standardised testing.
I heard Elon Musk actually wants to create an "education x prize" to develop resources towards this end.

Many students learn more effectively in a classroom environment, where they can hear, see and practice new information - and ask questions if clarification is needed. Classroom environments are also good for socializing children and teaching them how to cooperate, compete and communicate with one another. One of the most important abilities students may learn in such social environments is the ability to empathize. Seems this may be an ability you lack.

I must ask where you went to school then. My experience has been teachers reading from the text book. Boring instruction with little to no intriguing instruction. I empathize just fine I just refuse to let people abuse that anymore. So if that makes me come off as an asshole that is perfectly fine with me. Ive been through the public school system and ended up worse than if I hadn't. College has been a different experience but I solo study anyways which works fine with me. I just go for the structure and nothing more. Most of what I know has been from reading books on my own or reading online to fulfill my curiosity. Pretty much a straight A student so I'm doing rather well with what I'm doing while at the same time I see that "socialization" just make a large portion of the students here not take their acedemics seriously which is weird since this shit is expensive. I guess what do I know because I don't have "empathy".

I went to a public school in an admittedly well-funded district. While you are certainly not alone in your experience, and the (US I presume) should do more to ensure fewer students have experiences like yours, I don’t think it’s fair to write off the potential for students to come together in an environment largely dedicated to the pursuit of knwoledge. Certainly, there is adversity involved that some struggle to overcome (lack of strong instruction, peer pressure, etc) but it doesn’t seem just to write off the hard work teachers put in to shape the future of their communities and country.
It’s great that you were able to find success through self-study, but as an undisciplined child with some potential, students like myself would have been left behind without strong teachers. I’m grateful for that, and grateful for all the teachers that put in the effort to guide the students at risk of falling off the track. Admittedly, there is quite a bit of work to be done, but let’s not overgeneralize and imply that schools should be abolished. A better future is possible, and for many reasons it probably doesn’t involve the vast majority of students doing most of their learning in isolation in front of computer screens (maybe VR/AR will change that - but that’s neither here nor there).

I don't think I ever said anything about it being abolished. I'm saying that teachers are way more over glorified. A good teacher is a rare thing yet many bad ones love to claim how much hard work they are doing and think they should be paid so much. We have engineers scientists and others doing so much more for mankind than a large portion of those teachers. We dump more and more money into the educational system but ours scores are not improving. And tbh I blame many of the teachers and the gross mismanagement of funds. I have had a very bad time in the educational system as I noted. So that socialization didn't go well for me. And the teachers sure as hell didn't help. So much for "no tolerance" for bullying but then doing absolutely nothing to solve the problem. Look honestly parents with access the the internet could potentially do a better job than teachers at this moment. Is this all schools no of course not. Magnet schools and the like are doing hell of a lot better than our public schools. So it shows how broken the educational system is.

Have kids play sports and join clubs for socializing. The only useful thing I learned in school was basic math and how to write. Everything else has been utterly useless in my life.

I’m sorry you went to a school that led you to believe this is the case. I felt grateful for my teachers all through college, especially because they instructed me well enough to help me earn 1.5 years of college credits before stepping into my first college classroom. Many of them taught us how to learn, by going over our mistakes on our exams, and by teaching us how to keep binders/notes organized for each subject.
As an individual that is (very gainfully) employed, I’m grateful for these lessons in how to learn from my mistakes, take corrective measures, and organize information. I use these skills every day in my job.
Instead of devaluing the importance of teachers, we should place more emphasis on helping ensure our teachers are effective, their roles are critically important.
To hell with that man. Of all the 30+ teachers I had, 3 of them genuinely cared about our well-being and progress. The others always had the "wtf am I doing here, I could be doing better than teaching these little shits" mentality. Being a teacher is a thankless job. No matter how good or bad the environment in which you teach, it really takes a lot of resources and character to be an inspiring leader to guide younger ones without getting anything in return. And unfortunately our society was not conceived to produce such people that are fit to become teachers. The academic environment is hopeless. But in either case, the bad teachers are just as useful as the good ones. With the bad teachers you learn in an efficient way that most humans don't give 2 cent about what you do with your life, the best person who can instruct you in life is yourself through your curiosity. There's living proof for that. Look at Einstein and Tesla. In their lives their academic superiors shat on them for heeding to their own curiosity which made them have an unusual thinking process.
The environment you had is good but it is not uniform across the world. You only see the benefits but unfortunately you're trying to fix a colossal problem that is in process of being solved since the 50's. And yet things are getting worse. Teachers and students cannot relate with each other. You want to protect what you had academically so that those who follow may receive what you have and that's good. As for us who went to schools that couldn't give us decent teachers (and I went to a private one), we will never be able to share the same opinion with you and it isn't your fault or ours. I'm unable to believe that teachers have a critical role when I became my own man my own teacher in the end.

Sure have, spent plenty of time doing group work after instruction. Teachers at my school encouraged students to speak up when something wasn’t clear “because if it’s not clear to you, it’s probably unclear to someone else too”.

this. autodidact is a good way to get in-depth learning, more so than degrees if you put the time in. we are closer to post-scarcity of information now more than ever.
except, pdf's are much better than the library. not even close. the 'internet' is kind of like a giant book itself, and good due diligence on sources is part of the intrigue and novelty of it. either way, if I want to read Aristotle, I'm getting a pdf of it. time moves on. we don't use stone tablets anymore, the car replaced the horse for average transport, typewriter repair people found a different gig, etc etc.

Yeah, unfortunately lots of teachers have an agenda to push, and are dishonest towards their students when teaching controversial things like more complicated social issues. But with the internet, information is more readily-available than ever. As a result, there’s a pushback and Gen Z is poised to be the most conservative generation in decades.
Are they going to really do anything? I mean I highly doubt that if even they subscribe to one party that isn't degenerating parts of civilization doesn't mean they will be able to fix it. If both parties are corrupt and broken you lose either way. They would have to do more than us and most generations before us and honestly I have a low opinion of what people are willing to actually sacrifice. Currently in college had to do a remedial English due to not graduating and having no SATs the English teacher was as she said "a radical feminist" made jabs at trump and says she's a Hillary supports. Like bitch I'm just here to learn commas and pronouns I don't need your politics in a language class. I hate language so much and my experience through primary education attributes to that. As you can see my grammar and punctuation is shit but as long as my message is understood I couldn't care less about my literary skill. Now sit me with integrals and Statics. That's some fun stuff.

Doing well isn't related to reading/writing ability. I took a test awhile back and found that I had a vocabulary similar to someone with a master's degree in my second year of college. But I still got a C in English because the teacher didn't like the way I wrote. Haha. And I wouldn't write them off yet; of course both parties have corruption, but Republicans are definitely less insane than the party that champions groupthink, feminism, and hates men.
If you remember the Republicans were also cancer back in the 70s and 80s. It's just the democrats turn to do the same dumb shit. Unless someone breaks the cycle I don't see anything constructive being accomplished.

I posted a long time ago that as a male teacher i try to mold my boys to stop the bitching, cry and basically try not to give a fuck about anything that dont concern them. As far as i can see the girls are getting spoiled from a young age thinking everything will be okay cuz every boy likes her. If my boys listen to me they will be saved if not then they are fcked.
