I recently started working as a data scientist which is a very hard profession. You need to learn a lot of things. I struggled very hard in the early days of my job and it affected the quality of my life. Once I analyzed my life and realized this is the profession I am going to be in for at least next 7-8 years I write down following notes which helped me a lot in my journey. I hope it can be helpful to other professions as well.
The more I get better at Data Science skills, the more I'll be able to perform better at my job, the better my life quality will become(fewer diseases, less stress, can focus on boxing, gym, traveling).
Daily within 6AM-5PM, I focus on doing my job better and keep on learning skills(don’t focus on learning other skills like communication, social skills or anything else) and then take a break, have fun and remind yourself the first line. The more I suffer early, the better it is.
5PM-6AM -> Hit the Gym, Sleep, Eat clean food, smoke weed and get ready for tomorrow.
You will not think about tomorrow, in your thoughts, there should be one question, what can I do today?
How do you decide what to do at any current moment? You have to decide this on that current moment, what is the best I can do right now to get better at data science and perform my job better. And trust your instinct. There is no tomorrow in your mind.
Tricks, podcast videos, books and every other guide on Reddit is not going to help you. Making plans and just keep on thinking about them is not going to help.
The hardest part is starting the work. Once you have forced yourself into the work for 20 minutes, then you get the momentum and things become easy. Start doing things like, open relevant things on the screen, start making flowcharts. Once momentum is built, make each shift as long as possible. Because our energy is limited and more we switch from working to taking the break to working again the more energy is wasted and less productivity.
No one is coming to save you. And if we’d like to go where we claim we want to go - there is only one way. And that’s to meet our problems with right actions.People who do great things and who survive in hard times, survive because they took things day by day-that’s the real secret. Focus on the moment, not the monsters that may or may not be up ahead. We can’t spend the day in planning or explanation. Don’t waste time on false constructs.

Thanks for the inspiration. I've been putting off signing up for the online class I know I need to sign up for: Ng's deeplearning.ai. I'll be enrolled by this time tomorrow.
I already have the project, the data, and the program architecture. The AI component for ML predictions is the last piece. Whining that it'll take me 3 months to finish already put me a month behind. No more. Thanks, brother.

Best of luck to you man! I would suggest do check fast.ai

Thanks for the reference! Have you taken the fast.ai courses?

Yeah, I have taken it. I believe it's more practical than Ng's course.

I was in the same dilemma, I worked for three years as a software developer. If you have interest in stats and mathematics, I think it's a very interesting domain.
