Mosquitos can be combatted with quite a few types of chemical warfare. Yellow fly seasons is a bit more of a pain in the ass, they're crunchy, which is annoying, but unlike mosquitos, that you usually don't notice until they leave, yellow flies hurt quite quickly and are solid little bastards that aren't a soft body slapper like mosquitos.

I live in Hawthorne, near Gainesville, and there is a pond just outside the window of the room I am in right now. So, ye, mosquitoes.

About two weeks ago, I was in the Ace Hardware store in Hawthorne (there is only one) and at the register I saw some wristbands that are supposed to be good for repelling mosquitoes, so I bought two.

They work.

Sometimes mosquitoes will bite, but they don’t like the way I taste, apparently, because they don’t inject their anticoagulant so they don’t leave the itchy bumps. Mostly the pests don’t even land on me.

The cashier said they knew two women who like to take walks in the woods and they would put one on a wrist and the other on an ankle and the women swear they aren’t bothered by any flying insects. I have been wearing only one at a time, and I’m going back for more.
