My older sister claims to not be a feminist. Compared to my mother and younger sister, it’s awesome. However, she still asserts her right to the “trappings” of feminism, but also wants chivalry. Part of all of this is her personality: she’s not afraid to voice her opinion- quite frank and rather abrasive at times. Anyways, today she out of nowhere told me about how she saw “an obese man who looked like overripe spaghetti squash” driving a car with a MGTOW-oriented vanity license plate. She threw shade at the movement and community. She knows I’m MGTOW, and she gave her completely unsolicited opinion that I shouldn’t be a part of the community and make that choice for myself. She asked if I’m a member of this sub and I told her I am. She said I shouldn’t be a part of it. I get it, she’s a religious person, she likes things about traditional gender roles, and I think the man who marries her, albeit once she’s a bit more mature, would be a lucky man, just as I’m sure she will be a lucky woman. But, in addition to trashing MGTOW, she basically says I’m wasting my life by not reproducing and carrying on the family name. I love her, but I had to hold my tongue today, because no one insults MGTOW. Women brag about their bodies, their lives, and their freedom to choose. Perhaps, since women currently have those rights, I should also be free to make choices with my body, including not have a wife or family, and most of all, not be seen as a “disappointment” because I won’t be spreading my seed. But as with most things in life, there’s a double standard for men, and women always get the benefit of the doubt. Thanks brothers for reading this rant. I am inspired by all of you daily.
