I always think of it more specifically as the kinda verbal diarrhea that occurs when they’re trying to justify something or get out of trouble.

In their heads, women spin things to justify their actions. Like if they have to justify why they were a slut. The metaphor is a hamster spinning around. Sometimes the hamster goes nuclear.
