Testosterone's affect on the hair growth cycle is a pretty inextricable part of male pattern baldness and so it's hard to imagine that there would ever be a medication that doesn't mitigate its effects in some way.

Spironolactone is actually a very important diuretic with a number of uses to which its antiandrogenic properties are only incidental.

As with all things, you have to weigh the pros and cons of any given course of action. Sometimes that will be ambiguous (is it worth it to take finastride for male pattern baldness?), other times it won't be (is it worth it to take spironolactone so your heart doesn't stop?). Ultimately I think the risk of these drugs, when used correctly and outside of the context of HRT meaningfully "feminizing" men in their decision making or thought processes is pretty unlikely.

Stop jacking off so much and eat lots of vegetables and fruit. Cut the fast food down to zero and don’t drink alcohol and definitely don’t smoke cigarettes. Run a few miles a day and lift a few times a week. Get more than 8 hours of sleep each night and tell all those assholes at work to go fuck themselves. And your hair will start to grow back.

This is very scary. My father has been recently diagnosed with a heart condition, and they gave him spironolactone as one of the many meds to treat it. I told him to steer clear of it due it its testosterone inhibiting properties.

Well, medication is sometimes used for its side effects, instead of its main uses. Viagra started as a drug to help with blood circulation, for example. Doesn't mean that it doesn't do the job it was originally prescripted for!

But, for baldness, I do think that the risks of taking something like finastride heavily outweight any potential gains. I suppose the best way to treat baldness would be just embracing it and rocking that shiny head with pride.

if any men are worried about going bald, genuinely look into using rosemary oil. seems like hair follicles die with lack of blood to the scalp, partly due to gravity, incredibly! rosemary oil increases blood flow to the scalp so can actually bring hair follicles back to life
