I do have to point out, however, that sometimes a mortgage is preferable to renting.
My friend's mortgage on his two story house is about $500/month cheaper than a small 1 bedroom shared kitchen apartment.

True but the freedom debt comes from assets when you are in a position who can take risks, not from overpriced and depreciating consumer goods.
That said renting is not any better so my advice would be get out of any major cityt then find a cheap but good home. A thot will demand expensive useless stuff so this is not possible.

40 years in a lot of places in the US and Canada now believe it or not. Banks make money from stupidly high property values. Being married/cohabitating is the best way to afford those high values and push them higher. Ergo, the banks want you married.

I'm a female, and I've been divorced before. Nothing bad happened to either of us. Nothing was taken, no one was humiliated. It seems a little dramatically bitter to behave as though all women are cheaters, gold diggers and spiteful.

I mean I'm 18 and next year (presumably being forced) going to university [in New Zealand] by my mum and dad but I am meditating a lot; around 1 to 1.5 hrs...
