Bounded in 2 ways. By over-drinking and by an ex.
Overcoming, your over-drinking is the main/most important imo. Because that is something you have control over, and will make your life better. So I would do that, even if it meant I could see my son for a couple of weeks/time.
Overcoming you ex. Well, that still takes 15 more years untill your son is adult.

I'm just curious, why do you need time off of work to get sober? Wouldn't going to work help you stay sober?
