The trailer for episode 9 dropped today and I have to say, I thought it was very average as trailers go. Nothing special. It also did absolutely nothing for me.

The single biggest thing about SW is that it used to get my money automatically. It used to be when a new SW movie came out, I had to see it. Then, TLJ was so insulting, it killed everything I loved about SW. I was born in 1978, the first SW movie I saw in theatres was Return of the Jedi. After that, I saw all 3 prequels, all the Special edition movies and the Clone Wars movie in theatres, as well as the force awakens, and Rogue one. Rogue One was, BY FAR, the best Disney SW film. I didn't like the force awakens, but I didn't hate it either, it was just "meh". Solo was the first one I ever skipped, haven't seen it yet to this day. Disney had to learn the price of the fuck-up that was the last jedi.

Now, SW is JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER MOVIE, you don't get my money automatically anymore. You have to EARN it, just like everyone else. There is no presumption of trust, you killed it. If the trailers don't look good, I won't watch it. I used to go see every SW movie opening weekend, I won't do that anymore. I'm waiting for reviews from people I trust to come out before making a decision on whether to see episode 9.

I didn't like the trailer, there was no wow to it. Nothing interesting. The sequel trilogy characters are boring as fuck and I don't give a shit about them. I don't really care about watching episode 9 because I am not emotionally invested in the sequel trilogy characters. I don't care what happens to them, because I don't care about them. Nothing about them connects with me.

It took me a long time to admit how bad the sequel trilogy sucks. The prequels had their problems, sure, but at least I CARED about the characters. At least George got the most important part right. None of the sequel characters do anything for me. I don't care. I'm probably not seeing episode 9.

I suppose I should thank Rian Johnson; his movie was so bad it caused me to wake up and to question a devotion to SW that I never questioned before. He took an absolutely bullet-proof IP and managed to fuck everything up.
