Whenever I read shit like this that alludes to some big behavioral correction in general male abuse towards women I am reminded of this excerpt from the Masculine Principle :

Misogyny versus Misandry

But ask yourself, is this really true? Is it true that men are naturally misogynistic towards women? Is it true that most of the men you meet think negatively of women? Is it true that when in the locker-room the men conspire to hold women down? Is it true that businessmen would secretly conspire to throw away their profits by paying men 30% more wages than women, simply to keep women from reaching their true potential? Is it true that 1 in 4 women will really be raped in university, and therefore by extension that 1 in 4 men are rapists? Do you really believe that 25% of the men you know are secretly raping women? Really?

None of this rings true for me. In fact, what I see are enormous amounts of men tripping over themselves to praise women. I see men worshiping women as some sort of goddesses. I see men apologizing for the most nonsensical and trivial things simply out of fear of offending women.

I love that the response to abused women is generally " Men be better! but How many of us have seen or know this mass of male predators out there raping, beating , and generally abusing women enmasse? I'm not saying some of those guys don't exist but I know in my life for every one man that is equal to the evil ex husband / boyfriend in a lifetime movie I know at the very least 20 guys who are normal if not subservient towards women.

I say all of this to say the 17 year olds being scared of being accused of rape are not your fucking rapist. The guy who decides he's gonna fuck someone woman no matter what she says or wants is not the guy #MeToo is gonna scare away in the first place... I doubt nay law or social norm is stopping THAT guy from doing what he wants.
