Untie your finances and possessions as quick as possible. Before she changes her mind. No matter what possesions, untie them.

OP in that thread is from Texas thank God, if he gives her 100% of their property he can probably dodge alimony.

Texas will waive alimony if the wife gets the lions share of assets and if it's enough to sustain her for the length the alimony might have been.

Depends on who has the most debt. If she has $40K of the debt and you only $5K, then splitting the debt is bad for you. I would sell the house and then split the proceeds. Whoever has the title on the debt can pay their own.

The worse part was his reasoning for the divorce. He explained in the comments that she was just unhappy.
And there lies the issue with marriage from my perspective. She can just up and leave because she is bored.
What many people (yea I'm blaming dumbass men too) don't understand is that marriage and relationships in general aren't always going to Disney land fairy tale.
As soon as that honeymoon phase ends then it's over.
And this is only going get so much worse in the near future. Because now you have women getting dates at the snap of their fingers as if they hold the infinity gauntlet.
They go from guy to guy until they finally find one that looks like it will last for more then two years.
And after the first few years of dating they want a ring. Because you can totally tell how someone will be for the next 30+ years of living with them just based off two years of dating.
What a joke
